Inbreeding means pairing two pigeons that share common ancestors — relatives. The closer the relatives, the higher the inbreeding coefficient (F).

What is the Wright inbreeding coefficient (F)?
The F coefficient measures the probability that a pigeon inherited identical alleles from both parents through a common ancestor. F = 0% means no inbreeding detected; values above 12.5% (first-cousin equivalent) are considered high in pigeon breeding.
What percentage of inbreeding is dangerous?
F under 5% is generally safe. Between 5–12.5% requires attention — avoid repeating the same combination. Above 12.5% (equivalent to uncle×niece pairing) you risk immune problems, reduced fertility and smaller chicks. Above 25% (sibling pairing) the risks are very serious.
